Resident Ducks

Every spring we get some new sort of wildlife that makes our backyard their home, and this year we have a mating pair of Mallard ducks. They have been fun to watch and George has been feeding them cracked corn. The male is very protective of the female and always lets her eat first while he stands guard. He waits until she sits in the grass to sleep and then position's himself in a defense mode in order to protect his mate. Mallard ducks mate for life and they will return every year to the same nesting grounds. They have been mating like crazy in the pond so we may end up with lots of baby ducklings.

Easter Birthday

This year George and I hosted Easter dinner at our house for George's family. It just so happens that my birthday also fell on Easter this year. It was a beautiful day and there was plenty of good food and yummy desserts. George's nephew hunted eggs outside and Ava played with her eggs and basket outside on a blanket. I didn't know how Ava would react to having so many people around, but she seemed to soak up the attention and really enjoyed her first Easter and all the fun stuff in her Easter baskets. Ashley brought over her new boyfriend Jake, for dinner, and he seemed very pleasant to be around. I am thankful for our family and for the true meaning of Easter. Rejoicing in the Resurrection!

Good Friday was a Good Friday!!!

This year my birthday fell on Easter Sunday so I celebrated with some of my girlfriends on Friday afternoon at Soho Grill in Granger. My husband had set up a pedicure and manicure for me at Ja'ross in the morning and he had the most beautiful card waiting for me while I was being pampered. He continued the surprises with my FAVORITE cake that he delivered the night before at Soho Grill and they served it to me with birthday candles. He is truly a thoughtful, loving, and romantic guy! My birhtday luncheon was especially blessed with great friends and good fun for all! I loved everyone's beauty tips, cards, and gifts. I truly enjoyed turning older this year when I reflect on what wonderful friends I have to share my life with! I will cherish the memories of my special day!

Coloring Easter Eggs

This is Ava's first Easter season so I invited some friends over along with their kiddo's for lunch and to color eggs. Ava was mesmerized by all the activity and was taken lessons from the other children on technique and style for coloring eggs. I'm sure next year she will be actively participating!! It was great to share this memory with good friends and I look forward to next years eggstravaganza!!
