Resident Ducks

Every spring we get some new sort of wildlife that makes our backyard their home, and this year we have a mating pair of Mallard ducks. They have been fun to watch and George has been feeding them cracked corn. The male is very protective of the female and always lets her eat first while he stands guard. He waits until she sits in the grass to sleep and then position's himself in a defense mode in order to protect his mate. Mallard ducks mate for life and they will return every year to the same nesting grounds. They have been mating like crazy in the pond so we may end up with lots of baby ducklings.
